See and Learn First Word Pictures - Activities

There are 4 activities in See and Learn First Word Pictures to work through with sets of words in the following order:

  1. Looking at First Word Pictures
This activity introduces the picture cards to your child and provides opportunities for him/her to develop an understanding of the spoken word/sign.
  2. Matching First Word Pictures
This activity encourages your child to look closely at a picture and to scan a group of pictures to find the one that is the same. It also provides further opportunities for your child to develop his/her attention skills and understanding of the spoken word/sign.
  3. Selecting First Word Pictures
This activity encourages your child to show you that he/she understands individual words/signs by selecting the correct picture from a choice.
  4. Naming First Word Pictures
This activity encourages your child to say/sign the words that he/she understands. The activity provides a model of how to say/sign the word, and an interactive game to motivate him/her to use the word for a purpose.
