How to buy See and Learn apps

We currently supply our See and Learn apps through Apple's App Store. We also offer our apps to schools through the Apple School Manager.

We supply our See and Learn teaching apps for iPads through Apple's App Store and through the Apple School Manager. As Apple sets and displays prices in multiple currencies, we are not able to keep a separate price list, quote in another currency, or issue invoices for app licences ourselves.

There are two ways to buy our apps:

Our apps are designed for iPads, because phone screens are too small for the activities. The App Store on an iPhone does not list iPad-only apps. Use the App Store app on an iPad, or open the links on this page in a desktop browser to browse our available apps.

Buying from the App Store

Open our developer page on the App Store, which lists all of our apps, on an iPad or in a desktop browser. Each app page shows the price for your country, in your currency. Apple includes VAT or sales tax in the displayed price where local rules require it, so the price you see is the price you pay.

What you can buy

Single apps. Each app is sold separately. When you buy an app, Apple records the purchase against the Apple Account you were signed in with (the email address and password you use for the App Store), not against the iPad itself. You can then install the app, without paying again, on any iPad that is signed in to that same Apple Account, and reinstall it later if the iPad is replaced. It cannot be installed on an iPad signed into a different Apple Account unless that account is part of your Family Sharing group.

Bundles. We offer some apps in bundles that cost less than buying the same apps one by one. Apple's Complete My Bundle feature credits you for any app in the bundle that you already own, so you pay only for the rest.

Family Sharing. Up to six members of an Apple Family Sharing group can use an app bought by one of them, at no extra cost. This suits families and, for example, a parent and a grandparent who each have an iPad.

Apple handles payment, receipts and refunds for App Store purchases. If you need a refund, ask Apple through its Report a Problem page.

Using an app on more than one iPad in a school

App Store purchases are subject to the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. These permit individuals to use apps for personal, non-commercial purposes on any device that they own or control. For organisations, however, the terms permit only use by a single individual on one or more devices, or use by multiple individuals on a single device.

A school that wants to use an app with several children on several iPads therefore needs a licence for each device. Buying those licences through Apple School Manager is the practical way to do that, and it is where the education discount applies.

Buying through Apple School Manager

Apple School Manager is Apple's free portal for schools, colleges and districts. A school enrols once, then buys app licences in bulk through the Apps and Books section and assigns them to iPads, or to pupils and staff. Apps and Books is available in many countries but not all. Apple lists the countries where Apps and Books is available, and the payment methods for each.

Apple Business Manager offers the same purchasing for businesses at the same App Store price, but the education discount below applies only to educational institutions.

Where to find the price

Sign in to Apple School Manager, open Apps and Books, and search for "See and Learn". Each app shows the price for your country's storefront, in your currency. When you enter a quantity, the total updates, and the discount described below is applied on screen before you buy. This is the only place the discounted price is shown - it does not appear on the public App Store.

The education discount

We have opted our apps into Apple's volume discount for education. Apple's rule is that an app is offered at 50% of its listed price to educational institutions buying 20 or more copies.

The discount is applied per app. If you buy 20 or more copies of one app in an order, those copies are discounted; buying 5 copies each of 4 different apps does not qualify. Apple decides which organisations are eligible - in its words, K-12 districts and accredited higher education institutions - and we have no say in that.

Below 20 copies, Apple School Manager charges the same price per copy as the App Store. Buying this way is still worth considering for a school, because the licences belong to the school rather than to a member of staff's personal Apple Account.

What you can buy

Single apps in any quantity. Buy as many licences of each app as you need. Licences can be assigned to devices or to users, revoked when a pupil leaves or a device is retired, and reassigned. The school keeps full ownership.

Bundles are not available here. Apple does not allow app bundles to be sold through Apps and Books, so schools buy the individual apps instead. At 20 or more copies, the education discount replaces the bundle saving.

Payment. Depending on the country, schools can pay by card or, in many countries, by Volume Purchase Credit bought against a purchase order from Apple or an Apple reseller. Gift cards cannot be used. Apple issues the invoices and receipts, not us.

Moving licences. Unassigned licences can be moved between locations within the same Apple School Manager account, so a district or trust can buy centrally and distribute.

Questions we are often asked

Can you send us a quote or an invoice?

No. Apple is the seller. For a school, the Apps and Books screen in Apple School Manager gives you the exact price for your order before you commit, and you can print or save that page for internal approval. Apple provides the invoice after purchase.

Can you give a charity, clinic or parent the school discount?

No. The discount is Apple's, it is applied only inside Apple School Manager, and only for organisations that Apple recognises as educational institutions.

Do you sell site licences or subscriptions?

No. Each app is a one-off purchase per licence. There are no subscriptions and no in-app purchases.

Why is the price different in another country?

Apple sets the price for each country from our base price, allowing for exchange rates and local taxes. We do not set prices country by country.

Can we buy for a therapist's or teacher's personal iPad?

A school can assign a licence bought in Apple School Manager to a member of staff's Managed Apple Account or to a personal Apple Account, and take it back later. An individual can also buy on the App Store in the usual way.

Is there an Android or Windows version?

Our current apps are for Apple iPads only. See the system requirements for See and Learn apps for more about this, and about the updated apps that we are developing for other platforms.
